Waylon and William both of 12th Lewisham North Scout Group have been presented with their Chief Scout Silver Award. Waylon was presented with his at their local community centre who allowed their outdoor space to be used as a practice ground for the Cub’s camping skills. Separately, William was presented with his outside a local church after completing a walk for his knowledge badge.
To gain their Silver Awards both Cubs worked very hard over the time they have been with at the 12th Lewisham North attending camps and events when Covid-19 permitted them to, as well as weeknight sessions building vital life skills like vegetable peeling and cooking. Both Cubs took up the challenge of teaching other Cubs rope tying and warm-up exercises for sports, showing they could work as a team and lead others. They also took part in district events including the challenging Ron Fox Hike.
One big part of the Silver Award is setting your own personal challenges alongside the challenges set by your Akela. This task was only made harder because both William and Waylon completed work at home during the lockdown to make sure they covered all they needed to complete to ensure these badges were completed.
These two Silver Awards are well deserved, a big well done from all of us at Lewisham District and the 12th Lewisham North.
