On 3rd February, the 4th Lewisham Scouts took part in a regional First LEGO League Challenge Tournament at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich against 5 other teams.
The Scouts had been working together as a team for a number of months to design, build, and code their Lego robot to solve various missions on this year’s theme of Masterpiece. This included activating LEGO models of Music Stages, 3D Cinema, Rolling Action Cameras, and Audience Delivery.
They came second in the Robot Game part of the competition despite it being their first year to enter, winning them a Judges’ Award. They also had to come up with an Innovation Project to present to a panel of judges who also scored them on their Robot Design and Core Values such as Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork and Fun!
Their project proposal was to hold a VR Scout Camp to help tell others about Scouting and encourage more Young People to join and come on Scout Camps. The team worked really well together, discovered lots about LEGO Robotics, and had a lot of fun along the way!
