SUMMARY:Annual General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:You’re Invited! \n\n\n\n\n\nTo all adult members of Lewisham Scouts. \n\n\n\nAnnual General Meeting and Elections \n\n\n\nThis year’s District AGM will be held at Bellingham Bowling Club on the evening of Monday 10th July. We will circulate the formal notice nearer the time. \n\n\n\nAt the meeting\, we will elect Trustees to the District Trustee Board (previously the District Executive Committee.) \n\n\n\nOne of the key issues facing the District is that our District level volunteers are getting older – the majority of Trustees have passed state retirement age and most no longer have a role in a Scout Group.  This provides a great pool of experience but that needs to be balanced with youth and enthusiasm and day-to-day experience of front-line Scouting.  \n\n\n\nServing as a Charity Trustee can enhance a young person’s CV\, especially if they were pursuing a career in management or administration.  If you think that you would benefit from this please think about putting yourself forward. Equally\, if you know of other members of your Group who might be suitable please encourage them to stand for election.  Having committed volunteers who are active in Groups who are willing to serve as Trustees can bring enormous benefit to the wider Scouting community by keeping the discussion at Trustee Board meetings relevant to the needs of the District. \n\n\n\nIf someone feels they could not fill a District role because they do not have the time that need not be a problem.  We will focus on what an individual can offer – however little – rather than what they cannot.  If we can break traditional roles down into teams it will be more enjoyable for the volunteers and the Trustee Board as a whole is likely to be more effective. \n\n\n\nPlease don’t just leave this for someone else to deal with – try to do something – however small – to help solve the problem.  If you want any more information please contact me by phone or email. \n\n\n\nThe nomination papers for the Trustees and the District Secretary and Treasurer are available by clicking the button below. \n\n\n\nThank you\, \n\n\n\nMike Jackson \n\n\n\nDistrict Chair \n\n\n\nWe hope to see you all there.

SUMMARY:Young Leaders Training Scheme
DESCRIPTION:The Young Leaders Scheme \n\n\n\nThe Young Leaders’ Scheme is just one of the exciting program elements in the Explorer Scout section. \n\n\n\nAll young leaders in the Beaver Scout\, Cub Scout\, and Scout Section who are between the ages of 14 and 18 must be members of an Explorer Scout Young Leaders’ Unit. It allows them to make a valuable contribution to their community and give service to others. The scheme also helps them fulfill the service elements of their awards. \n\n\n\nRecognition \n\n\n\nA Young Leaders ’ Badge and woggle should be awarded after completing Module A. This badge signifies that a Young Leader has completed their basic training. \n\n\n\nA mission strip should be presented after completing each mission\, these are placed around the module A badge. \n\n\n\nA Young Leader belt buckle should be awarded on completion of the entire scheme (completion of ALL training modules and missions). \n\n\n\nThe Young Leader Service Award can be worn on the adult uniform to recognize a person’s completion of the Young Leaders ’ Scheme. \n\n\n\nThe Young Leader certificate should be presented when the Young Leader either turns 18 or completes the whole scheme. The back of the certificate can be used to record which modules and missions the Young Leader has completed. \n\n\n\nAll the Sessions are Non – Uniform\, there is also no cost.

They are Explorer Scouts who choose to devote a large proportion of their time in Scouting to service in another section. \n\n\n\nThe Young Leaders’ Scheme helps Explorer Scouts to develop and grow as individuals.
