About Us

Who are Lewisham Scouts?

Lewisham consists of 25 Scout Groups and 7 Explorer Units every week give over 1,000 6-25 year olds the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

Everyone’s welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of your child’s physical ability – there’s a Scout adventure out there waiting for them and we’ll help them find it. Sign up to help your child discover their ‘thing’: from abseiling to coding to performance art and everything in between.

Our Vision

Scouting exists to engage and promote young people, developing their character and encouraging them to make a positive contribution to their communities and the wider society. In Lewisham we don’t believe that Scouting in just for young people and strive to offer the same level of commitment to the progression of our adult members as we do to our youth.

In Lewisham we want to ensure all adults are fully inducted, trained and encouraged to work towards their aspirations, whilst teaching them to maintain an all round consistent programme for our young people. We want to be sure our youth members get to experience activities they would not ordinarily get to take part in, in a safe outdoor environment with the right instructors providing tuition.

We hope in Lewisham everyone feels welcome and is given an equal opportunity to excel at their chosen hobby, role, activity or career.

Our Values

Like all functioning groups, Scouts have laws we live by. We must act with integrity, showing honesty, trustworthiness and loyalty to all those around us. We show respect to ourselves, our possessions and our community. We care for our environment and support others in all of their endeavours. We explore our own faith and beliefs whilst striving to understand the faiths and beliefs of others. We co-operate with others to make a positive difference across the world.

These may seem basic commandments to live by, but in today’s world it is more important than ever that we teach our young people these core beliefs. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you have come from, the Scouting movement provides you with a family, a home and a social network to catch you when you fall.

Our Volunteer’s

All Scouting activities in Lewisham are managed and delivered by volunteer with the exception of some members of the Frylands Wood team. Without the dedication and support provided by these individuals, we could not deliver the quality of programme available to the young people of Lewisham. Each and every member of our team is valued for whatever they do. Our volunteers work together as a team to run Scouting each week, to hold camps and to provide additional support to all our members.

We cannot thank you enough!
