The Kenya 2016 expedition is in full swing and the leadership team has been selected. The Expedition Team is:

Expedition Leader – Tom Nixon

Lawrie Smith

Bill Compton

Lindsey Smith

Denise Pritchard

Amber Cox

Nick Smith

Ray Wickenden

Joe McEvilly

Plus 20 Explorer Scouts and Scout Network

The team will work closely with the charity Harambee for Kenya and complete project work at a safe house for street children in Meru, north of Nairobi. We will also be spending a lot of time with the street kids and getting to know them.

This will be followed by safaris and sight-seeing around Kenya, and a few surprises along the way too! The whole expedition is expected to last 16-18 days, including flying time.

The cost for the expedition is likely to be around £1600 to £1700, and can be reduced depending on the amount of fundraising that participants undertake.

We are now looking for 36 Explorer Scouts and Scout Network to join the team. We will be visiting ESUs and Scout Troops over the coming weeks and holding an Information Session at District Headquarters on Sunday 29th June, 1pm-3pm, for anyone interested in applying to attend.

To be eligible to be a member of the participant team, you must be aged 14 and a half by the time of the expedition. To simplify this, anyone born on or before 1st July 2002 is eligible. Scout Network members should not be older than 25 by July 2016.
